Manning Bowl 2025 – Colts vs Giants

This week's matchup sees the Indianapolis Colts host the New York Giants. The Giants secondary played quite well last week against the Panthers, giving up only 182 yards in the air and forcing 3 interceptions. The addition of FS Antrel Role from the Cardinals and the return of SS Kenny Philips who was injured for almost all of last season is an upgrade from last year's unit. But the Giants were facing average quarterback Matt Moore who in 17 career games has thrown 12 TD’s and 10 INT’s.

The game plan for the Giants last week was clear: stop the run and see if Moore can win the game. This week on Sunday Night Football, the Giants face a slightly more competent QB. Peyton Manning will be under center and the Giants secondary will perhaps get its toughest test of the entire season, facing off against the best in the business.

Last week, the Colts lost to division rivals Houston. The Texans took advantage of several drops by the Colts receivers (Garcon right before half on 3rd down and then again in the end zone) which most likely would been converted into points. Houston’s running game and Indy’s mistakes are the reasons the Colts are 0-1. However, you can bet that drops won’t be an issue this Sunday. Peyton played spectacular in week 1, going 40/57 for 433 yards, 3 TD’s and 0 INT’s. It’ll be tough for the Giants to stop the Colts passing attack. But if there’s a proven way to beat the Colts, then the Texans showed us how to do it last week, and that’s to run right through them. This is the Giant’s key to victory.

If the Giants can run the ball as effectively as the Texans did, they have a chance at winning this football game. Arian Foster did a great job of hitting the gaps and then running around, through, and right over Indy’s defense. The Giants, however, didn’t run the ball that well in week 1, as newly appointed starter Ahmad Bradshaw managed 76 yards on 20 carries. And if you take away his run of 39 yards that gives him 37 yards on 19 carries. Both Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs finished with averages of 3.7 and 3.8 yards per carry respectively. Eli also didn’t play that well last week. His timing was off and his accuracy was poor. He finished the game with 3 INT’s against an average Panthers secondary. The offense is going to have to do better this week.

The Colts run game this year will be similar to last year's: invisible. But that doesn’t matter because the Colts, like the Saints, are one of the few teams who have the ability to control the clock through the air. Peyton should take over early on, and it’ll be up to Eli to prove he can hang with his big bro.

Spread Prediction – I like the Colts to cover the spread this week. Last week's result between the Colts and the Texans was set in stone before kickoff. Since Houston’s inception into the league, Indy has dominated them, winning 15 of their 16 meetings. Last year we could see the tables begin to turn, as in both games between the two teams Houston were up by 17 points only to watch Peyton lead his team to victory and complete the comeback.

Simply put, last week was meant to be, but it doesn’t reflect any change on the part of the Colts. Peyton played out of his skin, but his receivers let him down, and the Texans got the win that, in front of their home fans, simply meant more to them. This won't be the story this week. I like the Colts to bounce back and win this game by more than 5. Indy haven’t lost back-to-back games in the same season with their starters since 2025. Take the Colts to cover the spread. They should not only control the clock but they should put some significant numbers on the board. There are no guarantees in football, but there is Peyton Manning on Prime Time.

Game Total Prediction – Both of these teams were involved in high scoring games last week. The Giants receivers have shown they can make plays, and they should be trailing in this game, forcing them to pass and go for broke. The Colts are the Colts, and they’ll live and die through the air. They won’t stop the Giants but they should outscore them. This prime time matchup between two of the biggest names in the game should generate some spectacular offense. Take the OVER.
